In order to develop statistical and demographic science in the territory of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak Statistical and Demographic Society is active as a direct continuation of the Slovak demographic and Statistical society in the Slovak Academy of Sciences, founded on the 28th of March1968.
Currently, SŠDS has based the following sections: -Applied Statistics-Demographics-Mathematical Statistics-Statistical quality management. It also develops activities in other areas, such as computational statistics, environmental statistics and others.
Members of the Society are from different departments, from several Slovak universities and other universities in Slovakia, from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, from research institutes, from the Slovak Academy of Sciences, ministries, banks, economic organizations and companies.
